Project Overview
Amidst the severe challenges faced by displaced people in the Gaza Strip, securing a loaf of bread—the staple of every meal—has become a daily burden for families. This is driven by acute resource shortages and the lack of safe cooking environments within displacement camps. In response, this project was launched as a dual-impact humanitarian initiative: it not only provides essential food but also extends to empower and support local capacities.
Our Strategic Objectives (What Do We Achieve?)
The project adopts an integrated relief and developmental vision striving to achieve the following objectives:
Enhancing Food Security and Preserving Dignity: Ensuring daily access to fresh bread for the most vulnerable displaced families, contributing to food stability that preserves their dignity under harsh conditions.
Supporting Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment: Instead of importing external solutions, we believe in local capacities. The project supports and empowers small community bakeries (run by resilient youth and their families) by providing them with essential production resources. This ensures the continuity of their income and revitalizes the local micro-economy.
Mitigating Risks and Securing the Displacement Environment: The project directly aims to save lives by reducing the need for families to light fires and bake bread using primitive methods near highly flammable tents. This protects women and children from the risks of fires and asphyxiation.
Fostering Community Solidarity and Resilience: Creating a sustainable model that integrates emergency humanitarian aid with supporting the local community's capacity to recover, adapt, and rely on itself.
Who Do We Serve? (Target Beneficiaries)
This project touches the lives of vital segments of the community, serving them directly:
Displaced Families (Primary Beneficiaries): The most vulnerable groups in displacement camps, with priority given to families facing severe economic hardship. This ensures that children, women, the elderly, and people with disabilities receive their fundamental right to food.
Affected Small Business Owners: Productive youth and families running local bakeries. They are rescued from the risk of business closure, transforming into essential partners in alleviating their community's suffering.
